Listen to…

I don’t know why there has not been a CD review so far on my blog, as there would be many bands and songs I’d like to discuss. But there’s this one guy I really have to recommend to you  (a friend of mine did so to me and I’m glad she did…). I can’t put it off any longer. He’s a singer/songwriter type of guy and he’s called Sufjan Stevens. And he has this wonderful Songs for Christmas album out, on which he performs and reinterprets traditional Christmas songs in his unique, alternative, melancholy-edifying style, without leaving out the good news of Christ. A perfect Christmas gift for your friends or yourselves – especially if you’re sick and tired of those generic, omnipresent Christmas songs which you can hardly escape of, whenever you leave your house. I’ve already treated myself to it – and it’s just ethereal!

If you like that one, you might consider getting his Seven Swans album. I usually listen to it in the early mornings when I cycle to the boathouse in the dark. It always gets to my heart and makes my early day…
